BIOGRAPHY

Influenced from a very young age by his mother, Cecilia Martínez Torres Lara, a classical music pianist and inspired by the sounds of rock that fueled his melomania from an early age, he studied with various musical teachers, one of them being Jorge Madueño, with whom he was developing a refined creative and musical style that over time led him to get involved in the musicalization of underground video art, documentaries, institutional videos and advertising commercials. Godson of a tech geek and lover of photography, also had a significant influence on audiovisual matters.

In 2005, he put music to the documentary VIOLENCIA A PUERTA CERRADA by the prominent national film director Felipe Degregori. This audiovisual work was awarded at the LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES ASSOCIATION festival in Puerto Rico. In 2001, one of his musicalization works, MAMI QUE LINDA LA CASA by independent video art director Ricardo Ayala, was exhibited in Madrid, Spain, during the CASA DE AMERICA art exhibition.

In 2007, he did the sound design work for the short film OFELIA by director Humberto Gutiérrez, with which he won the Conacine award for best sound in 2008. This work also won the award for best short film fiction and best indigenous short at the Cusco International Festival, in addition to receiving a special mention at the Biarritz Film Festival in France.

Not only was he developing in the sound field, but at those times, he also carried out audiovisual projects for clients such as Repsol, Movistar, Edyficar, and MiBanco, among others.

In the same way, his love for cinema and photography led him to participate as a crane cameraman (Hot Head) for commercials, films and music video clips filmed in Peru.

He also worked as a video editor and post producer in television programs for Media Networks Latin America (Plus TV, CMD, Perú Mágico). In this company, he later held the position of music content producer.

Between 2007 and 2008, he worked as a composer and arranger at the renowned audio studio for advertising Audiopost and the AZ audio house in Los Angeles, California, where he worked for the Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Puerto Rican and American markets.

In 2007, he released Resolviendo, his debut album as a soloist. In this album, he demonstrates all his musical facets, both in composition, production, and arrangements, as well as in the vocal interpretation and execution of the various instruments used in the album.

In 2009, he started his entrepreneurial venture, “Mantra.” In 2019, he launched another studio, Darwin Laboratorio de Audio.

Stoll has designed sound and created music for advertising projects, including more than 250 commercials that have been shown in countries such as the USA, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panamá, Ecuador, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, República Dominicana, and Peru.

In 2014, after producing the first album by the Lima band Vicuña Toy and being part of it as a bassist, they toured, offering concerts and doing press in the USA (El Paso, Texas) and Mexico (DF and Guadalajara).

In 2015, he directed and made the second video clip for the band Vicuña Toy for the song «Love is an Equation.» That same year, he produced the single and directed the video for «Hasta que Haya» by the Peruvian band Comodoro.

In December 2016, he was in Argentina, invited by Promperú to be a member of the Peruvian delegation that attended the Buenos Aires International Music Business Fair (BAFIM). That same year, he travelled to Cusco and the Sacred Valley of Urubamba to produce the album «La Muerte del Ego» by the Peruvian band El Sonido del Sol.

In 2017, he produced/arranged the «El Viaje de Ana» album for his former duo band, Shuca Mágica. This album features special guests such as Pelo Madueño, Tilsa Llerena, and Isabel Iñigo, among others. He played bass, keyboards, synths, percussion, drums, and backing vocals.

Several years ago, he also started directing and post-producing video projects for different advertising agencies, companies, and well-recognized brands in Peru, such as Why Not, Ogilvy, Grupo Romero, BCP, Banco Pichincha, Mazda, and Diners, among others.
